Now the Formula 1 season is over, we must send huge congratulations to Lando Norris and the McLaren team for their success this year in both the drivers and constructors championships.
This season turned out to be one of the most competitive and unpredictable championships in years and we witnessed a great battle between Norris and Oscar Piastri at McLaren and the reigning champion, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. Now the racing has finished, we wondered what cars these drivers choose to spend time with away from the track. With plenty of cash, and a need for speed, what supercars do the F1 superstars drive?
Lando Norris – McLaren
Norris has a passion for supercars and despite his relatively young years, he has been racing in F1 for 7 years, all for McLaren. His personal collection includes a McLaren 765LT Spider, a highly customised McLaren Special Operations car designed to his personal specification. MSO are their specialist team which "put you at the centre of the process, collaborating with you to shape supercar history by creating truly unique cars”. This is a great way for them to showcase the service and Norris gets a one of a kind supercar.
He also owns a rare McLaren Senna, a P1, a 720S, a McLaren GT, and a 570S, all flagship models from his British employers. Alongside these, he has dabbled in different makes, owning amongst others, a Lamborghini Urus, Ferrari F40, Porsche Carrera GT, and Shelby Cobras, plus a personalised, cabriolet version of the Land Rover Defender 90.
However, with all these modern supercars at his disposal, he has been quoted as saying his favourite is a classic Lamborghini Miura. He is a champion of impeccable taste.
Max Verstappen – Red Bull
Like most F1 drivers, Verstappen also has a great collection of supercars. A favourite early purchase with his F1 money was a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, in which he was often seen driving on roads away from the circuit. Early in his career, he bought, and still owns a superb example of the Renault R.S.01 and a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
The greatest supercars in his collection must be the Aston Martin Valkyrie. This was an ultra-exclusive hypercar co-developed with Red Bull’s design guru Adrian Newey, who described it as a “Formula 1 car for the road.”
He does however try and keep things a little real. He can be seen driving around Monaco in his Audi RS estate. It has been tuned by ABT Sportsline - a renowned German tuning company that specialises in upgrading Audis and turning them into monsters, but it is still an Audi estate.
Although he was the son of an F1 driver, his first car was a humble yellow (yes yellow!) Renault Clio. We don’t think he still has it.

Oscar Piastri – McLaren
One of the new kids on the block Piastri hasn’t had the same time or resources to amass a huge collection. It helps to have a little employer discount though, so he is able to drive a McLaren Artura everyday. This hybrid supercar has a high-performance V6 and electric motors capable of 700 bhp and a top speed of 205 mph. He also has a McLaren GT, should he want a little V8 fun.
George Russell – Mercedes
Like Piastri, Russell is loyal to his current employer. His collection consists of Mercedes-AMG GT S, a Mercedes-AMG SL63 and when he needs a little retro experience a Mercedes 280 SL, a beautiful 1970 grand tourer.
His pride and joy is the Mercedes-AMG ONE. This is a super rare hypercar that uses a modified version of his work engine, the Mercedes F1 engine, producing over 1000 bhp. The engine is a 1.6L V6 turbo and is accompanied by four eclectic motors - all using F1 technology. Mercedes demonstrated just how serious this car is by setting the fastest lap time round the legendary Nürburgring circuit.

Charles Leclerc – Ferrari
Ferrari had another difficult year by their high standards, so what supercars does Leclerc drive to relax away from F1 and put the season behind him? He unsurprisingly has a passion for Ferraris, but with a personal twist. His SF90 Stradale has custom colours, just for Leclerc, his 812 has a bespoke open-top, built just for him, his 488 Pista Spider has a unique matte finish and Monaco flag styling as does his limited edition Daytona SP3.
Lewis Hamilton – Ferrari
Great things were expected from Hamilton, but his first year at Ferrari proved to be a disappointment. Having been at the top for so long, he has however managed to collect some truly amazing supercars.
One of these amazing cars is a purple Pagani Zonda 760LH. Using a Mercedes engine, helped developed during Hamilton’s time at Mercedes, this crazy purple supercar was often seen with Hamilton behind the wheel driving around his Monaco home. He is also known to own a Mercedes‑AMG One, a LaFerrari, and various Shelby Cobra classics.
He is now moving away from big engined supercars for environmental reasons and now can be seen driving a modest Mercedes‑Benz EQC.

Kimi Antonelli – Mercedes
Italian starlet Antonelli is a little different in this list of F1 drivers as he is still only 19. As part of his contract at Mercedes, he was given a Mercedes‑AMG GT 63 S, which due to Italian driving licensing regulations for under 21 year olds, he isn’t actually allowed to drive on the road. However, he was able to argue for special dispensation, so is now able to drive to and from work in his nice new Mercedes.
Alexander Albon – Williams
Albon has been in and out of F1 in recent years and has now found a home at Williams. His cars away from the track include an Aston Martin DB11 and an Aston Martin Vantage, both, which when available can be hired from PB Supercars.
He also enjoys throwing classic Mini Coopers around as well using a Mercedes GLE for everyday driving.

Carlos Sainz – Williams
The other Williams driver, Sainz has a long history in F1, including time at Ferrari, where he purchased his customised Ferrari 812 Competizione and personalised Ferrari Daytona SP3. He is however happy to stay under the radar and use everyday run-arounds in order to keep a low profile. He did even drive the same Volkswagen Golf GTI, given to him by his parents at 18 for many years.
Fernando Alonso – Aston Martin
Former champion Alonso has expensive tastes and has a massive supercar collection including from his time at Ferrari and McLaren. He owns a McLaren P1, a Ferrari LaFerrari Hybrid and of course a Ferrari 599 GTB 60F1 Alonso Edition, a car developed to celebrate 60 years in F1 for Ferrari and named after Fernando Alonso's to commemorate his 2011 Silverstone win. One of only 40 cars made the 599 GTB 60F1 Alonso Edition is super rare and will be a valuable part of any Ferrari enthusiasts collection.
